On the occasion of the XVII National Conference of the WCCM in Rome, Father Laurence Freeman received Vania Mercanile as a Benedictine Oblate of the World Community for Christian Meditation. \u00a0 The Ceremony took place during the contemplative Mass he celebrated.
After a period of preparation Vania offered herself to God and to the Community, confirming her commitment in the three fundamental commitments of the Benedictine Rule: Stability, Obedience and Conversion, three true principles of life to which the Oblates invest their heart and their mind<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Oblates of the Benedictine Order of the WCCM are characterized by the charisma of contemplative prayer in the vision of John Main who rediscovered the beauty and simplicity in the “pure and silent prayer” of the first Christian monks and fathers and mothers of the desert.
Offering oneself as an oblate in this community means committing to holding Christ at the center of one’s life and bringing our awareness back into the mystery of Christ and of God. It is the way, among other ways, in which the human journey acquires meaning and is enriched for one’s own good and that of others for joy and peace.
